In about six weeks Washington’s annual Ridiculous Day celebration will be held as part of the four-day Summer Classic. At the recent Washington City Council meeting Fred Stark shared some history of the day, which nearly ended a few years ago but was rescued by Dean Kurtz. Stark said this year will be the 70th year of the Ridiculous Day, which began as a chance for businesses on the square to have specials and sidewalk sales. The city council approved requested street closures around the square during the four-day festival for pedestrian safety.

Director of the Washington Chamber of Commerce Michelle Redlinger shares this year will also include five Washington High School class reunions ranging from five years to 30. The Summer Classic will be held June 1st-4th.
