Asbestos abatement was completed at the Washington Middle School. Over the weekend sealed containers and the dumpster were moved off site. The district is waiting on final testing of the third floor science room. That room is fully contained and air quality is being monitored with negative air pressure. The plaster in the main entrance of the school has been partially removed and the plaster ceilings tested negative for asbestos. After all of the plaster is removed, multiple vendors will coordinate to complete work on drywall, cabinets, lighting, flooring, painting and clean up. The school suffered water damage after a faucet was left on over Easter weekend and asbestos was found in some of the affected rooms.
