The Coe College softball team won their opening round regional playoff game Friday on the campus of Central College in Pella.

The Kohawks got by Washington University of St. Louis by a 2-1 score. The win moves the Kohawks to 30-9 on the season and keeps them alive in the regional tournament. Coe College has been led by a pair of seniors that were standout athletes for KCII area schools in their high school careers.

Former Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk Mallory McArtor has hit .305 during her senior season while slugging .469. She has 39 total hits, 27 runs scored, four home runs and 23 RBI. She is second in Coe history with 71 stolen bases in her career.

Former Highland standout Paige Wieland is hitting .235 this year with 24 total hits, 21 runs scored, one home run and 17 RBI.

The Kohawks are currently ranked No. 25 in the country.
