Day One Results for Girls State Golf in Marshalltown

The first day of two is complete in Marshalltown for the girls’ state golf competition and area athletes put on a promising showing.

In an attempt for their third team title in as many years, the Washington golf team is sitting at fifth in the team competition for class 4A, shooting a 392. Dubuque Wahlert is the leader to take home the crown, shooting a 368. Sarah Nacos is primed for a third state title of her own, shooting a meet best 78. Grinnell’s Bella Amador-Lacson is in second with 84. Other scoring from the Demons includes Allison Vogel tied for 27th with a 101, Megan Strabala tied for 31st with a 102, and Emily Waite is tied for 41st with 111. Scratch scores are Carly Burlingame with 114 and Kaitlyn Mitchell with 148.

Winfield-Mt. Union’s Sophie Kongable and Lexee Hartsock are representing the school as individuals in the 1A competition. Kongable is tied for 11th with a 92 and Hartsock is tied for 17th with a 97. The leader in class 1A is Samantha Knight of West Monona shooting a 76.
