The Washington archery teams competed at the national tournament last weekend in Louisville, Kentucky.

In the 3D competition Washington was led by Samantha Mellinger with her 286 including 20 bulls eyes. That score was the fifth best from any Iowan at the tournament and 16th in the country in the high school girls division. Cooper Reed had the highest boys score with his 276 and 13 bulls eyes, placing him 69th out of nearly 1,000 middle school boys. Other scores for Washington included James Zabel and John Sands 276, Bryan Martin 275, Cynthia Shafer-Smith 271, Cody Mellinger 270, Allison Rees 267, Anna Miller 266, Griffin Wood and Adam Todd 265, Heather Shultz 260, Maggie Morgan 258, Lane Frana 257, Kylee Porter 256, Samantha Frana 251, Braden Duwa 249, Curtis Stender 239, Makynna Morgan 237, Sammy Jo Helfrich and Mitchell Driscoll 232.
