On a night where offense was at a premium the Demon baseball team opened up their season with a wild 16-12 victory over Eddyville-Blakesburg on Tuesday.

If you like slugfests, this was the game for you, as both teams went back and forth en route to the high scoring affair. Eddyville-Blakesburg got things started in the first inning putting up four runs thanks to a pair of Demon errors. The Demons (1-0) answered by scoring six runs in the next two innings powered by RBI singles by Ryan Loy and Dakota Kron. The Raiders hung tough by tying the game at 6-6, but a pair of five-run innings gave the Demons a lead they would never relinquish. Kron led the way offensively for the Demons going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. The senior also posted his first ever start on the mound where he went 2 1/3 innings giving up two runs.

The Demons get right back on the diamond tonight as they travel to Clear Creek Amana for a double-header.
