A senior-led team coming off a winning season translates to a lot of excitement and anticipation for the new season. That’s the feeling around the Washington baseball team as they kick off the 2017 campaign tonight entertaining Eddyville-Blakesburg.

The Demons bring back a lot of experience from a squad that went 17-14 and second in the Southeast Conference in 2016. Eight seniors lead the charge for the Demons led by Zach Londberg. His .402 BA from a year ago was the best on the team and an impressive 1.13 ERA on the mound was second in the conference. Other key returners for Washington are Dakota Kron who had a .347 BA, Aaron Vittetoe with a .328 BA, and Collin Zear had a 2.44 ERA on the bump.

Eddyville is coming off an 11-21 season and brings back eight of their top 10 players from a year ago.

The season gets started at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Washington High School. Tune into 106.1FM and KCIIRadio.com at 7 p.m. to listen to the live play-by-play broadcast.
