The postseason journey to a third straight state title begins today for the Washington girls’ golf team as they head to Waterloo for regionals.

Fresh off their conference title win last week, the Demons come in as favorites to move on as they have posted the best season average out of the 12 participating teams with a 191 nine-stroke average. Look for Sarah Nacos as a possible meet medalist. Her near par 36.8 is the best in class 4A as she seeks a third straight individual state title. The success of the Demons would not be without the evolution of juniors Megan Strabala and Allison Vogel, as they tied for fourth in the Southeast conference for season average with a 49.2. Carly Burlingame, Emily Waite, and Kaitlyn Mitchell round out the top six for the Demons.

The chance to go to state gets started at 10 a.m. this morning in Waterloo at Gates Park Golf Course.
