The Washington Demon boys and girls track teams were on the oval in Mount Pleasant Thursday night at the Class 3A boys and girls state qualifier meet.

The Washington girls finished fourth in the eight team field with their score of 84 points. Davenport Assumption won the meet with 158 points. The Demon girls had three events automatically qualify for the state meet in Des Moines based on their finish in the field Thursday. Hannah Anderson was the state meet qualifier champion in the long jump with a leap of 17’3”. Anderson also qualified for state in the 100, taking second with a time of 12.52 seconds. The Demon 4×200 relay will also be at state after their second place finish with a time of 1:49.78.

Other top finishes for the Demon girls included Anderson third in the 200, Ashley Telleen third in the 400 hurdles, and the Demon sprint medley and shuttle hurdle relay teams third.

The Washington boys finished fourth in the team race with 84 points. Mount Pleasant won the meet with 195.5 points. The Demons did not have any automatic state qualifiers. Top finishes for the Demons included Ethan Hunt third in the 400, Caleb Bex third in the 110 hurdles, third in the sprint medley relay, and third in the shuttle hurdle relay.

Performance qualifiers for the state meet will be announced during the day on Friday. Stay tuned to KCII sports for a full list of state qualifiers. The state meet will be held next week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
