The Highland Huskies are hosting their annual co-ed track meet tonight, serving as a showcase for area teams.

Area teams in attendance tonight with Highland include Lone Tree, Mid-Prairie and WACO. All four teams were in action at Thursday’s Ekstrand Relays. The Lone Tree boys took home the team title last week in Wayland winning four individual events on the night including Jovonte Squiers in the 400 and long jump, Ross Swinton in the 3200 and Dawson Swails in the shot put.

Mid-Prairie was second as a team with seven championship events. The Golden Hawks had Marshal Teets win the 400, Cary Schaefer take the 800, Peyton Miller win the mile, Kyle Miller win the high jump and the Golden Hawk 4×400, 4×800 and distance medley teams take championships.

WACO was fourth in their home event with Cornell Hulme winning the 100, Colton Horak taking the 400 hurdles and the shuttle hurdle relay team winning the title.

The Highland Huskies were fifth and won the 4×400.

On the girls side the Highland girls were second and won three event titles with Emily Yahnke winning the long jump, Kaylee Rath the shot put and the 4×100 team.

Lone Tree was fourth, winning the 4×800.

The WACO girls were seventh with a pair of wins with Kasey Sutton in the 100 hurdles and the shuttle hurdle relay team.

Other teams at Highland tonight include Danville, Keokuk, Louisa-Muscatine and Tipton. Action begins at 5 p.m.
