It was a workman-like performance Monday night in the first round of the class 1A substate tournament for the Iowa Mennonite School soccer team as they dispatched the Chariton Chargers 4-0.

IMS got on the board in the ninth minute as Cole Ours scored on a corner kick that pinballed around the 18. In the 12th minute it was Ours again doubling the IMS advantage to 2-0, and that’s where the score stood at the half. Out of the break IMS made it 3-0 when Ours hooked up with Seth Danga on a cross and he finished to the back of the net. Jared Schlabaugh ended the scoring with a one touch goal in the game’s final 20 minutes. Blake Bontrager had the clean sheet with three saves on the night. With the win IMS moves to 13-3 and will advance to play No. 3 Iowa City Regina Wednesday in Iowa City.
