The Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team scored a big win at home Friday night, beating Columbus by a 2-1 score.

It was the Wildcats that struck first, in the ninth minute, on an Eric Cantarero penalty kick goal, taking a 1-0 lead. IMS answered with a penalty kick goal of their own in the 30th minute off the foot of Isaiah Swantz to tie the game at one going into the half. Iowa Mennonite found the game winner in the 64th minute when Louis Etienne ripped a shot from just outside the 18 box into the upper 90 to give IMS a 2-1 lead. The Iowa Mennonite defense and goalkeeper Blake Bontrager made that stand up down the stretch.

With the win, IMS is now 7-3 overall and 6-2 in conference. They will next be in action Monday at home for Senior Night against No. 12 Williamsburg.
