The Iowa Mennonite School, Winfield-Mt. Union and Sigourney Savage boys golf teams will vie for a trip to the state tournament today at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City.

Iowa Mennonite is represented by one individual, Trevor Leyden who finished with a career best round of 82 to finish at medalist runner-up at the sectional tournament last week in Winfield.

At the same sectional, the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves qualified their entire team for district play with their sectional championships score of 342. The Wolves were led by sectional champion Caleb Hagge with his one over par round of 73. Other scores for the Wolves included Nolan Ross 86, Kash Rossiter 88, Graham Hagge 95, Jarod Kadel 100 and Noah Freeman 118.

The Sigourney Savages advanced to today’s district meet as a team by finishing in third place at the sectional meet in Belle Plaine. The Savages fired a round of 371 as a team, led by Kaden Benson’s third place finish with his round of 87.

Other school joining IMS, WMU and Sigourney today in Iowa City include East Buchanan, Alburnett, Starmont, New London, Danville, Easton Valley, Midland, Wyoming, Lisbon, Belle Plaine and Iowa Valley. Action begins 10 a.m. Thursday and continues throughout the day at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City.
