The Kalona community center project is to be discussed at tonight’s city council meeting.

The meeting agenda says there will be an amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with the hired contractor, with an increase of $91,000 for a total amount of $422,295. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh clarifies this increase, “So the budget obviously was a little bit more than what we initially anticipated when we entered our first contract so this is just cleaning that up before we go to bid.”

Schlabaugh previews the meeting, “So on Monday night, Carl A Nelson, who’s our construction manager on the project will be in to walk through the last budget for the project, and then we’ll hopefully give some direction to them as to how they’d like to see a bid, and then we go and craft the bid documents and we go.” The city council meets at the Kalona Community Center-City Hall at 7 p.m.
