The Lone Tree Lion baseball team opened the season with a win Thursday, knocking off Louisa-Muscatine 8-3.

Pitching and defense controlled things early, leaving the game scoreless entering the fourth. In the fourth each team scored twice. In the six L-M went up 3-2, only to see Lone Tree score twice in their half and four more times in the seventh for insurance to seal the win.

Dawson Swails led the way for the Lions with a three for four night with three runs scored driving in a pair. Ross Swinton collected the win on the mound throwing the complete game allowing three runs, walking two and striking out eight.
