The stage is set. The wait is no more. The chance to make history on the biggest stage starts today in Des Moines as various members from Lone Tree and Columbus Community track teams compete at the state meet.

The Wildcats’ Shania Boyd is a favorite to grab a state title in the long jump, as her best leap of 17’5’’ is first in all of class 2A. Lone Tree’s Emily Feldman will also compete in the long jump and has a best leap of 15’9 ¼’’. The Lions’ shuttle hurdle team can do some damage as they have the best time in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.

Lone Tree’s Jovonte Squiers headlines the boys’ division as his long jump leap of 22’1’’ leads class 1A. Teammate Drake Hotz competes in the 200m dash where he has posted the third best time in the conference. For the Wildcats, Tommy Pretz will compete in the long jump where he has the second longest leap in the conference, and Ruben Paz will compete in the 100m dash.
