The Lone Tree school district received the largest spring 2017 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation Board of $200,000 for their wellness center project.

The wellness center plans to serve both the district and the Lone Tree community with a gym and other recreational facilities. Lone Tree Superintendent Michael Reeves comments on the Riverboat grant reception, “We of course were really happy to receive it. I tell you though, the thing I was most impressed with the entire night was, I had not been to one of the awards ceremonies before, and I was just completely impressed by the number of applicants, how serious and important the projects were to the people, the generosity of the Riverboat foundation. The whole thing was just very well done. Of course we were obviously happy to receive an award as well, but it puts it all in a different perspective and just makes you think.”

Reeves says they’re almost where they hope to be in fundraising for the wellness center. They are still waiting on a couple more grants before they begin construction, which Reeves says they should hear the final word about in the next couple weeks.
