The battle for the Southeast Iowa Super Conference girls’ golf title is on full display today in Fort Madison.

Winfield-Mt. Union comes into the day as the team to beat by posting the best team average of 217 strokes per nine holes. The Wolves’ Sophie Kongable is the early favorite for medalist honors as she has posted a season average of 46.33, five strokes better than second place Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Community. Duncan’s 51-stroke average leads the Wildcats who have posted a second conference best 263 average as a team. Other area schools battling for the conference crown are Lone Tree who is led by Lizzie Edens with a 61 stroke average, and Gretta Rempel leads Iowa Mennonite School with a 56 season average.

The conference meet gets started this morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison.
