The top academically ranked students in Iowa were honored April 30 at the 15th Annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines. The seniors that were honored were selected by their high schools as the highest academic achievers. The following seniors were honored: Jayden Poehler from Columbus Community, Kelsey Hora from Highland, Cole Yoder from Iowa Mennonite School, Emily Davidson from Lone Tree, Alexandra Humston from Mid-Prairie, Collin Svenby from Sigourney, and Deion Malloy from WACO. The students each received a photo plaque of themselves with Governor Terry Branstad and Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds and a certificate to commemorate their achievement. Each student’s most influential teacher also received a certificate of appreciation. The program is presented by the Governor’s Office, the Iowa Athletic Association, and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
