Televisions and tires are being found in Washington County ditches. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, an update on the county recycling center was presented by Lynn Whaley. Whaley said they’re seeing fewer.

Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius says that’s not the case for his department, “What he’s seeing is down, and I wanted to mention that what we’re seeing is up significantly.” When the county road crews have to pick up a dumped TV or tire from a ditch, the county foots the bill for that recycling fee.

At the county’s recycling center, TVs under 36 inches are $15 to dispose of and any larger are $20, car tires cost $3.50. The county’s rural solid waste and recycling center at 2170 Lexington Boulevard is open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
