The Iowa Insurance Division issued a settlement Monday with Two Rivers Insurance Company, Inc. that will return $1.3 million to 33 public entities in Iowa.

Of the 33 entities $28,315.60 will be returned to the City of Fairfield, $63,502.99 to Henry County, and $37,586.91 to Jefferson County. The investigation centered on public entities that had been associated with the Iowa Governmental Health Care Plan (IGHCP). The Iowa Insurance Division alleged that since 2005 Two Rivers “recalculated” a premium that included extra compensation to the insurance company and they failed to disclose this to IGHCP members. Two Rivers denied all wrongdoing in the settlement. The Iowa Insurance Division is the state regulator that supervises all insurance business transacted in the state and has general control over all aspects of their business.
