Today is the first day you can take glass bottles, plastic bottles and aluminum cans in at the new WCDC can redemption center in Washington.

Anyone can turn in their cans and receive their deposit back. President of WCDC, Inc., Dave Hoffman says they’re looking forward to having the facility open at 702 East Washington Street, “We’re pretty excited about offering this to the community and it gives us an opportunity to employee our clients in the community, and hopefully do a great job for Washington.” Through this process, each patron will receive their deposit back and WCDC will in turn get about a penny per item when they send them on to be recycled. Hoffman adds this also provides a few more minimum wage jobs.

The redemption center is open Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-noon.
