The Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union girls soccer team scored a first round regional win Tuesday night in Wellman, downing the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks 3-2.

Bailey Stroud got the scoring started for Columbus in the 16th minute with a penalty kick goal. Libby Baker evened the match at one with her penalty kick goal 16 minutes later and the score stood tied one all at the half. In the second half, Kirsten Duwa saved a penalty kick in goal for Mid-Prairie to keep the game tied. In the 51st minute Ireland Hostetler gave the Hawks their first lead of the night at 2-1. The Wildcats scored a pair of unanswered goals to complete the come from behind victory and advance in the playoffs. With the win Columbus is now 4-8, Mid-Prairie ends their season at 5-10.
