The stage doesn’t get any bigger for the Winfield-Mt. Union boys’ golf team as they compete in the state tournament in Marshalltown today.

The Wolves qualified for the meet after a runner-up finish at districts last week in Iowa City. Caleb Hagge is playing his best golf at the right time as he took medalist honors with a 69. Look for the junior to be in the mix for a state title as his 18-hole average of 72.83 strokes is second in class 2A. Nolan Ross has put together an impressive freshman campaign as his 84.67 average was third in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division. Rounding out the competitors for the Wolves are Kash Rossiter with a 94.17 average and Jarod Kadel with a 101.83.

As a team the Wolves carry the sixth-best season average out of the eight teams participating with a 173.71 average.

Tee time is set for 10:30 a.m. this morning at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.
