Artists of all varieties are being sought by Louisa County for an art day next April.

“LousiAlive ArTrail” will be an all-day event connecting the nine Rural Hometown Pride committees in Louisa County for an art scavenger hunt. Doug Elam is the coach for the hometown pride committees in Louisa County, and he discusses the event, “We hope to have different kind of hubs that people can jump in and jump out and go to sales and shows and have meals. We’re hoping for some edible art along the way. And then have a scavenger hunt, have maps for people to drive the back roads of Louisa County and discover the county. In our mind this project is everything visual, edible, musical.”

The hometown pride program is a subsect of Keep Iowa Beautiful, developed in 2012 to assist and improve communities. Elam’s role offers five years of coaching in Louisa County to offer leadership training, youth service programs, and tools and solutions for community development. Elam says he hopes this art scavenger hunt will be an annual event, bringing communities across city lines together. This event is open for all artists, professional and amateur, in southeastern Iowa. Those wanting to get involved can contact Doug Elam at 319-366-0705 or Louisa County Conservation.
