A Magical Night is the theme of a special needs prom being held in Washington this month.

On June 30th, corsages will be worn, a grand march will be held, dinner will be served and music will play at the Washington United Methodist Church. Genie Davis who is helping to organize it says clients are looking forward to it, the first to be held in five years, “Our clients, they deserve to have this magical night. It’s something they can look forward to, something they can remember and talk about down the road.” She adds the clients have been getting excited for the evening.

The ladies were able to go pick out their dresses at All Dolled Up in Wayland. Davis says the guys would also like to dress for the occasion, and anyone wanting to donate a vest, suit coat or tie can drop items off at the Advance Employment Services office at 109 South Marion in Washington. Flowers, dinner, servers, and guest DJ, pastor Jason Collier, have already been arranged.

Davis says they’re expecting around 100 attendees with guests and staff. The grand march will begin at about 6:15 p.m. and is open to the public. Those who would still like to register can call 653-7568 to get signed up for A Magical Night Prom.
