A swing and a miss. The Williamsburg hitters were doing plenty of that on Wednesday night as Collin Zear had his best stuff working on the mound to help guide the Demon baseball team to an 11-1 win in five innings.

Zear established himself early by mixing pitches well and he was rewarded with an impressive nine strikeouts in the five innings of work. With Zear doing work on the bump, he got more than enough help on the offensive side. Patience was a virtue for the Demons at the plate, as they broke out for five runs in the second inning without having a hit. They racked up four walks on the inning including two hit by pitches to have the breakout inning. They scored four more in the fourth highlighted by an RBI single off the bat of Bryce Craff. With the score at 9-1 in the fifth, Kiowa Keith shut the door on the Raiders by delivering a walk-off single to centerfield to capture the mercy-rule win. Keith finished 1-for-2 on the night with a pair of walks and an RBI. Zear was also productive at the plate going 2-for-2 with a walk and RBI. On the bump, the senior finished the night with five innings pitched on nine strikeouts and giving up one run.

With the win the Demons improve to 11-7 on the year as the Raiders fell to 7-15. The Demons get back on the diamond tomorrow night when they travel to Mediapolis (11-9).
