A big Southeast Conference softball showdown will take place in Washington tonight as the Demons face off with the Panthers of Mount Pleasant.

Washington (9-6) was last in action Tuesday night when they split a doubleheader against Oskaloosa. Alexa Mitchell led the Demons offensively going 2-for-8 on the night with one RBI. Mitchell and Molly Sparks combined for 13 innings of only allowing three earned runs. Mitchell’s 2.57 ERA is fifth in the Southeast Conference and Sparks’ 3.62 ERA is not far behind at eighth. The two will have to be at their best again tonight as Mount Pleasant (12-3) is the highest scoring team in the conference, averaging almost nine runs per contest.

Bailey Johnson leads the Panthers with a .590 BA and 20 RBI. In the circle, Johnson has been solid as well with a 1.99 ERA in 25 innings of work.
