In a battle for early season positioning in the Southeast Conference, Washington softball hosts Fairfield tonight for a double-header.

Expect a pair of close games tonight, as both teams are atop of the conference through one week of play. Washington (4-1 overall) has developed a combination of patience at the plate, taking conference high 21 free passes, with timely hitting to get out to their fast start offensively. Senior Jessie Buchholz has led the Demon charge having gone 10-for-22 with five RBI. Molly Sparks looks to keep her solid start to the season in the circle going, having posted a perfect 3-0 record with a 2.58 ERA in 19 innings of work.

Fairfield (4-0 overall) has had plenty of success in their own right to start the season. The Trojans brought back all of their starters except one for a team that went 29-12 a year ago. Haley Beard has made her mark already going 6-for-8 at the plate and a 1.17 ERA in the circle in 12 innings pitched.

First pitch of game one will be at 5:30 p.m. tonight at Washington High School. Tune into 106.1FM to listen to the broadcast starting at 5 p.m. for our Washington HyVee Pregame Show.
