Area bragging rights are on the line as the Mid-Prairie baseball team hosts Washington tonight in a non-conference matchup.

To say that these two teams match up similarly would be an understatement as they almost mirror each other in many statistical categories on the season. After an up and down last week the Demons (8-5) will look to get back to their winning ways as a Southeast Conference title is not out of their grasp. The Demons should be well-rested as they haven’t been in action since a doubleheader split to Mount Pleasant on Thursday. Ryan Loy will look to lead Washington offensively as his .444 BA is seventh in the conference.

Mid-Prairie (8-7) will look to get back on track as well tonight, coming off of a doubleheader loss to Iowa City Regina last night. The Golden Hawks find themselves in the middle of the standings in the loaded River Valley Conference. Karson Gingerich has helped the Golden Hawks offensively with a .425 BA with 13 RBI. Brad Tornow has been almost unhittable in his freshman campaign as he carries a 0.72 ERA in 19 1/3 innings of work.

The anticipated area contest gets started at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Wellman. Tune into KCII to listen to the broadcast starting at 7 p.m. for the Washington HyVee pregame show.
