Washington and Williamsburg will meet up today for a single softball game in a non-conference affair.

Statistically, these teams mirror each other in many aspects of the game and find themselves in the middle of the standings in their respective conferences. Washington (17-17) will look to get back above .500 as they are coming off of a tough doubleheader loss to Mount Pleasant last night including an 8-7 defeat in extra innings. Morgan Brinning has been productive from the plate as of late, averaging a pair of hits in each of her last eight contests. Molly Sparks and Alexa Mitchell will look to finish the regular season strong in the circle before next week’s first round postseason game against Central Dewitt. The two have combined to pitch every inning this season except three, with Sparks having a 2.87 ERA and Mitchell with a 4.32 ERA.

Williamsburg (19-16) is coming off of a doubleheader sweep to Vinton-Shellsburg on Monday night. Kortni Gensley with a .432 BA and 21 RBI leads the Raiders offensively. Nicole Zuber is the main pitcher in the circle with a 2.75 ERA in 71 innings of work.

The non-conference showdown gets started at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Washington High School. KCII will be on the call and tune in starting at 6 p.m. for the Washington HyVee pregame show.
