Drought conditions are continuing to spread across Iowa.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, at this time 42.6% of Iowa is abnormally dry, up from 38.4% last week, and 1.3% of Iowa is now in moderate drought. The estimated population in drought areas is 11,943 people. All of Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry, and Louisa Counties are abnormally dry, along with portions of Iowa and Johnson Counties. The area in moderate drought is south-central Iowa.
