A Fairfield resident announced his campaign for Iowa House District 82 Monday.

Dr. Phil Miller announced he will seek the Democratic nomination to replace State Representative Curt Hanson of Fairfield, who passed away earlier this month. Miller graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in veterinary medicine. He then joined the The Veterinary Clinic P.C. in Fairfield, where he still works today. Miller serves as President of the Fairfield Community School District Board of Directors. He has also served on the Jefferson County Board of Health. The special election for House District 82 is set for August 8. The special nominating convention for Democrats will be held this Friday.
