The Mid-Prairie baseball team made the long road trip to Durant Friday night for a River Valley Conference doubleheader.

The Hawks took game one 7-6 and dropped the second game 11-1. In game one Mid-Prairie got out to a fast start, leading 3-0 after one and 5-0 after three. Durant chipped away scoring once in the fourth, twice in the fifth and once again in the sixth to get within 5-4. Mid-Prairie added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh and they would need them both, as the Wildcats put a pair on the board with a seventh inning rally but the Hawks held on for the win. Jared Miller led the way for Mid-Prairie at the plate with three hits, Keaton Duwa drove in a pair. Brad Tornow got the win on the mound, going two and two thirds innings, allowing four hits and two runs.

In the nightcap the Wildcats broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the third and poured it on after that with two more in the fourth, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Derek Rich led the way for Mid-Prairie at the plate with a hit and an RBI. Collin Gingerich took the loss on the mound going two innings, giving up a hit, two runs and walking three. With the split Mid-Prairie is now 11-10 on the year.
