The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team split a River Valley Conference doubleheader Monday night with the Tipton Tigers.

The Tigers took game one 11-7, while Mid-Prairie rebounded to win the second contest 13-8. In game one, Tipton jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after three innings, only to see Mid-Prairie rally and tie the game through five. The Tigers responded with a four spot in the sixth to take the lead back and the Golden Hawks could not find an answer over their final two at bats. In the first contest Mid-Prairie was led by Ethan Danner who was three for three with a pair of runs driven in. Jacob Leonard was three for four with two RBI.

In game two it was Mid-Prairie’s turn to get out to a fast start, scoring once in the first and three times in the second to take a 4-1 lead. The Tigers put up a three spot in the third inning to tie the game at four and scored four more times in the fifth to make it 8-4. Down to their final three outs the Golden Hawks scored nine times in their last at bat to come away with the five run victory. With the split, Mid-Prairie is now 6-3 on the year and will next be in action tonight when they travel to Northeast, Goose Lake.
