The No. 5 ranked Highland baseball team split their first two games of the week, winning at Lone Tree Tuesday 6-2 and falling to Iowa City Regina at home 12-6.

The Huskies built a 3-0 lead after three and a half innings against the Lions. Lone Tree scored once in the bottom of the fourth to get within 3-1 but the Huskies answered with a pair in the top of the fifth for insurance and to pull away for the win. Josh Michel was one for three with a pair driven in as part of the win.

In the loss to the Regals both teams were hot to start the game offensively, exchanging three spots in the first inning. Regina took a 4-3 lead in the top of the second only to see Highland respond with a pair of runs in the bottom of two to take their only lead of the night at 5-4. Iowa City Regina took control of the game with five runs in the third and three more in the fourth to grab a 12-5 advantage and not look back. Michel was two for four with a pair of RBI. Bill Burton was two for three with two driven in and a run scored while Garret Colbert smacked a solo home run.

With the split, Highland is now 5-1 on the year, they are back on the diamond tonight when they host Holy Trinity Catholic.
