It’s trendy to arrive fashionably late to a party, that’s exactly what the Iowa Mennonite School softball did Tuesday night for senior night, rallying late to beat Winfield-Mt. Union 2-1 in Kalona.

In a battle of KCII area teams it was the pitchers who took center stage early, with Hannah Harris for IMS and Madie Anderson for WMU tossing matching shut outs through the first five innings. In the top of the sixth it was the Wolves who broke through for a run. IMS answered in the bottom of the sixth Calli Shaw, the lone senior, cracked a solo homer to left center field, her second in as many nights to tie the game at one. In the bottom of the seventh on the first pitch of the inning, Mia Graber sent everyone home happy with a tape measure home run to left that landed over the scoreboard for the IMS 2-1 win.

Hannah Harris got the win in the circle going all seven innings, giving up just three hits, one run, walking two and striking out two. IMS is now 6-9 on the year, the Wolves fall to 6-14 on the year.
