The Kalona City Council set a date for the bid letting of the Kalona Community Center project.

City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh details what occurred at the recent council meeting, “On Monday night, we had both Carl A. Nelson, who’s going to act as project manager, as well as Martin Gardner and Associates Architecture. And we went through all the final changes that were made, and at that point the council made the recommendation to put the project out for bid, so the plans and specifications will be available for contractors on June 13, next Tuesday, with a July 11 bid opening.”

The project will be awarded to a contractor at the regular meeting scheduled on Thursday, July 13th at 6 p.m. This project is to renovate and reconstruct the Kalona Community Center, which will include a new gym, walking tracks, exercise rooms, and other new facilities. The current building is home to the Kalona City Hall, YMCA of Washington County, and other local organizations.
