The thermometer approached 100 degrees in Washington Tuesday with a high temperature of 93 degrees.

According to AccuWeather the real feel yesterday afternoon at 2:35 p.m. was 99 degrees with humidity at 51%. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for most of the day Tuesday. WeatherEye Meteorologist Derek Heit explains, “A heat advisory means that the combination of high temperatures and high humidity will produce dangerous conditions, especially for those who are sensitive the heat such as children and the elderly.” He added on hot days take steps to prevent heat sickness and heatstroke, “Drink plenty of water, stay in the shade as much as possible, and if you must be outside take occasional breaks in an air conditioned building to cool down.”
