Hot summer temperatures will surely send people jumping into a cold bathtub at the Keota Fun Days this weekend.

The bathtub races is one of many events planned for the annual celebration. The Keota Fun Days began Thursday with the Bill Riley Talent Show. Events are planned through Saturday evening, such as bean bag and horseshoe tournaments, the Keota Fun Run, a kids carnival, and the 126th Annual Keota High School Alumni Banquet.

The Keota Fun Days has been orchestrated for 16 years by Andy Conrad, who talks about the festival’s significance, “It’s got a lot of history, it goes back probably over a 100 years. People look at it as a homecoming event as well, the Keota High School Alumni Banquet is on Saturday evening. It gives everybody something to do in a small town when they come home, and there’s a lot of pride involved. You come to Keota and you usually have a good time, I don’t see too many people that don’t.”

The festival is a big community effort, as Conrad says, with active volunteers and all of the proceeds of the food stands going back to the festival. KCII will be broadcasting live from the Big Red Radio on Saturday at the Keota Fun Days as part of the KCII Summer Town Tour.
