The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams travel to Iowa City tonight to square off with the rival Runnin’ Regals of Regina.

The Mid-Prairie baseball team enters tonight’s action with an 8-5 overall record. In their last games they beat Denison-Schleswig and Grundy Center on Friday to claim the Waterloo Bucks Tournament Championship. On the season the Hawks are led by Karson Gingerich who is hitting a team best .425 with 17 hits and 13 RBI, also both team bests. Brad Tornow leads Mid-Prairie on the mound with a 3-0 record. He has worked 19 innings with a 0.72 ERA.

Iowa City Regina enters tonight with an overall record of 10-5. They are ranked No. 10 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. In their last game they lost to Fort Dodge St. Edmond 6-3 on Saturday. On the year the Regals are led by Joey Molony with his .500 average. Mitchell Gahan and Nick Brandt are the leaders for Regina on the hill with a combined 4-1 record and 2.52 ERA over 36 innings pitched.

The Mid-Prairie girls enter tonight with an overall record of 6-8 after splitting two games over the weekend at the Cedar Rapids Prairie Tournament, beating Central Lee 12-0 and falling to AGWSR 3-2. On the year Mid-Prairie is led by Kitty Conway, who is hitting .542. In the circle Cassidy Rourke has done the bulk of the work, throwing 70 innings with a 5.27 ERA.

The Regals come into the night with a 10-5 overall record. In their last game they fell to Cedar Rapids, Jefferson 4-3. The Regals are ranked No. 6 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. On the season Regina is led by Sarah Lehman and her .465 average. In the circle, Lehman has thrown 38 innings with a 0.74 ERA.
