It’s been 72 years since the end of World War II, and with the passage of time we lose more of the veterans from that era.

The nationwide organization The Sons of AmVets serves to honor the veterans both living and deceased, as member Brian Reese acknowledges, “We’re running out of veterans, especially the WWII-era veterans, they’re dying off as they get older. We try and make their lives easier, because they’ve done so much for us. Being a son means that we didn’t serve in the military, so we do help the veterans in our area.”

Sons of AmVets Post 107 will be supporting veterans with their 12th Annual Car, Truck, Tractor, Golf Car and Motorcycle Show on Sunday, June 11, in Richmond. The proceeds of the show will go towards the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City, the English River Outfitters camp in Washington, and for maintaining the Sons of AmVets Post 107 grounds. Reese looks forward to the car show, “It’s a busy day, I’m just looking forward to the amount of people that we get there, who enjoy what we try and provide for the community.” Reese says among the show attendants are veterans who educate others on their experiences in the armed forces.
