The City of Riverside is working to improve economic development in the community.

The Riverside City Council is having a work session Thursday, to discuss business incentives with John Danos of the law firm Dorsey & Whitney. Mayor Allen Schneider tells what the council wants to achieve, “I think we just want to make Riverside attractive to businesses and try to build the community. With our infrastructure development projects that we’ve had going on for the last year or two, the goal with those is to make the city more attractive to both businesses and families who have an interest in moving into town.” Riverside’s population has grown from 998 in 2010 to 1,039 in 2016, according to the Iowa Data Center.

Schneider says the council has had discussions about economic incentives in the past and Danos will give them his expertise on how best to go about that during their work session Thursday.
