Last week a Washington man died following a rafting accident in Colorado.

Gunnison County Sheriff Rick Besecker has issued the investigation statement for 52-year-old Russell Zieglowsky’s death. According to Besecker, on June 21st at 2:20 p.m. officers responded to the scene of a possible drowning. Zieglowsky was non-responsive to CPR after being rescued from the Taylor River. A preliminary autopsy report from the medical examiner indicates the cause of death was drowning and the manner was accidental. Further investigations are being conducted by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Zieglowsky was a city councilman in Washington from 2006 to 2016.
