The Winfield-Mt. Union softball team dipped below .500 on Monday night when they fell to Mediapolis 13-6.

The final score does not tell the story of the game as the Wolves controlled much of the contest. After the Bulldogs struck first by scoring one in the first inning, it was the Wolves that managed four runs in the next three innings. Taking a 4-1 lead into the sixth, Mediapolis exploded for 11 runs on a couple of Wolves errors to take the lead and put the game out of reach. W-MU battled for two runs in the seventh but it was not enough as Mediapolis jumped the Wolves in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference standings for eighth place.

Leading the Wolves offensively was Lauren Jamsion going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Allie McArtor finished her night in the circle going 6 1/3 innings giving up six runs.

With the loss the Wolves dropped to 4-5 on the year as the Bulldogs improved to 3-3. W-MU gets back on the diamond on Friday when they host Wapello.
