A $1 million sewer project to combat inflow and infiltration issues in the City of Washington has been approved.

At Tuesday’s Washington City Council meeting the five members in attendance voted to support the project, including Jaron Rosien who said, “I think the community understands that we put off some of the fun things, like the streets and pretty things, in order to do the things that are underground and not pretty. It’s a hard decision, but that’s what this is. We shall hold this under priority.” The work will be done in the city’s southeast basin. According to City Administrator Brent Hinson, if everything proceeds as planned, construction improvements should occur in the 2018 construction season. An engineering task order for FOX Engineering was approved.
