The Columbus Community baseball team lost by the slimmest of margins on Monday, dropping a game to Holy Trinity 4-3.

Searching for their second conference win of the season, the Wildcats managed a pair of runs in the first three innings to take a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth inning. After a pair of runs by the Titans in the fourth and one more in the fifth, Holy Trinity was able to hang on for the 4-3 Southeast Iowa Super Conference victory.

Eric Reese gave his team a chance as he went six strong innings on the bump giving up one run on five hits and a pair of strikeouts. Abel Mena led the Wildcat offense going 2-for-3 with a double and run scored. Columbus racked up eight hits in the loss.

With the defeat, Columbus drops to 1-16 on the year as Holy Trinity improves to 3-14. The Wildcats get back on the diamond Friday when they travel to Cardinal.
