The Columbus girls’ soccer team looks to keep their season alive as they travel to Fairfield tonight for a regional quarterfinal matchup.

After losing to the Golden Hawks earlier in the season, Columbus (4-8) got revenge on Tuesday night by beating Mid-Prairie 3-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. Bailey Stroud scored a big goal in the contest as she added to her seven goals on the year. Liana Sweezer will need to be at her best tonight in the net as she looks to build off of her Southeast Iowa Super Conference leading 130 saves on the season.

The Wildcats will have their hands full, as Fairfield (13-3) is fresh off their 10-0 mercy win against Centerville. Columbus will have to stop the offensive prowess of Emma Rosner, as her 43 goals on the year is second in class 1A.

The chance to move on gets started at 6 p.m. tonight at Fairfield High School.
