Traffic was delayed Monday morning while crews cleaned up a two-vehicle wreck in Washington.
An SUV collided with a box truck at the intersection of Highways 1 and 92 near Moore’s BP at 9:53 a.m. The truck pulled off to the side of the road, but the damaged SUV was in the middle of the intersection for some time. The two drivers involved were Johnathan Berry of Wellman and James Fyfe of East Moline, Illinois. There was an antifreeze leak at the scene. As heard live from the scene on KCII, emergency crews had to direct traffic around the crash as only one lane was available for use. Washington Police, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Washington Fire Department and Washington Rescue assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported. Damage was over $1,500 and the SUV was towed. Berry was cited for failure to have insurance accident related and Fyfe was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.
