Turkey, steak, chicken, pork and ribs were all entered in the annual Washington Farmers’ Market BBQ and Smoker Challenge.

Thursday’s event had judges (including KCII’s Sally Hart) gathered around Centennial Fountain to taste each dish and weigh in on the tenderness, texture, and flavor. Some of the cooks had been gathered around their grills and smokers most of the day to create their dish. The judges deliberated and unanimously awarded the 2017 Pitmaster designation to Greg Armstrong with Taste of Heaven for his juicy, fall-off-the-bone barbecue ribs.
